In keeping with the music theme, I surfed on over to OkayPlayer to get the scoop on last night's Roots concert at Radio City music hall. While there I heard a couple of new Talib Kweli tracks called "Listen" & a really dope jawn called, "New York Shit" Ft. Jean Grae. Both songs are very summertime fresh.

Although I love Kweli ("2000 Seasons" is my all time favorite), I long for the day of Black Star. I heard Kwa & Mos are supposed to team up real soon for a follow-up to 1998's "Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star." Let's pray y'all, so we can make it happen.

What are y'all feeling right now?

Yesterday I asked about the throwback joints, today I'm talking current music. And remember kids, sharing is caring.

i am so not with the times. if ur talking about what is coming on the radio, then i don't know a thing. i find myself thoroughly disgusted by the filth spewing from the radio. i know there is good music out there, i just have been out of it lately and so my current music knowledge has evaporated. i would be interested in seeing further commentary, so that once again i can start adding to my diverse collection.

i'm not really speaking about the radio either. i'm talking about sharing GOOD music, so we can all bulk up our playlists.

i can't tell u the last time i heard Kweli on the radio.

Yes! I would love to see Black Star back on the mic. That's one of my favorite Hip-Hop cd's! As for now, I can't think of anyone that I'm really feeling at the moment. I was listening to my brother's cd today. Check out his music on My Space: www.myspace.com/thomasbessjr

I'm on the hunt for something really good myself! There are a couple of joints on this G.O.O.D. Music sampler from Kanye that are dope. That guy Consequence has a nice flow, although subject manners subscribes to the same ole trends. I like Common's verse in particular on a "Jesus Walks" remix. Check it here:

If you're willing to switch to a whole nother genre, check out Lizz Wright. Had the pleasure of hearing her live last night.

    Great blog! Peace and blessings!

jreal: i'm into lots of different types of music. i've been hearing a lot about Liz Wright, but haven't really checked her. i rarely buy CDs anymore unless it's somebody i REALLY want. heard some new Bilal joints over at his my space page.

black girl: i've always loved Amel. i wished Grove Theory would have done more albums.

Yes, Liz Wright is a Georgia girl. I know her roomate down in Atlanta. My brother tells me that she is the truth when she performs Live and that she is a really cool person.

Thanks for the link PW. I previously had a rather skewed view of Bilal (used to call him a bootleg Eric Benet) but those tracks are pretty cool.

Stephen, what's Lizz's roommate's name?!? I was admiring this art at the show, and a guy told me that it was done by Lizz Wright's roommate... but dude couldn't get her name straight. Was he drunk or is she really an artist?
