i am a sucker for love stories
lush
complicated
delicious
stories that speak
to every inch of
i and i
on wednesday, i perused
the bookstore searching
for something to inspire
a depressed student
instead i stumbed upon
Kwame Dawes' magnificant pen
you see, i am drawn
to love stories
set afire in the belly
of the caribbean
full up wit history
and black bodies lovin
themselves and tryin
to make it
in spite of
themselves
last night
i stayed up till 4am
wrapped up in
Keshia and Kofi's complications
their arguments, their lovemaking
wishing
beloved was here to
share it

I hear he is a good writer. Geoffrey philp mentions him on his blog at times. No telling when I will get it though. I have list of books to buy. :)
Good to see you and I hope all is well. Peace~
Glad you liked the book.
Kwame is now in Jamaica with the Calabash Lit Fest.
I've passed the link on to him.
Blessings,
Geoffrey
did you love it...did you really love it? you know i love it when someone loves a new book. it helps me justify.
Geoffrey: i wish i was there as well! thanks for passing on the link!
J-i LOVED it...lol. almost as much as "Waiting in Vain" by Colin Channer. i connected to that book...it reminds me so much of beloved & I.
Have you read Colin Channer's Satisfy My Soul? You would enjoy that too. Just added "She's Gone" to my list. I'm a sucker for great love stories too, especially those that happen in real life.
Blessings...
michelle: i've read all of Colin's books (about to start his latest Novella). i LOVE him & i love BLACK love stories. not the little smack 'em up, flip 'em, rub it down stories they slangin now...but REAL love stories with people that look like ME. maybe i should write one. but i'm too critical & my attention span is way too short for a novel (which is why i'm so taken with poetry)...perhaps i'll try my hand at a novella someday.
thanks for stopping by!
Sounds like something I would like to read...will make sure to pick this up!
